Celebrate World Spay Day Everyday

Tuesday, February 28th is not only the last day of February and probably our last hope of a winter this year, but it's also known internationally as World Spay Day, a day dedicated to eliminating the problem of homeless pets through spay/neuter education and opportunities. The Doris Day Animal League created "Spay Day USA" in 1995. After their merger with the Humane Society of the United States in 2006, the annual campaign was renamed "World Spay Day". This now international day of spay/neuter awareness has been recognized by nearly 70 countries, promoting the need for companion animal sterilization and providing practical resources, such as educational materials and listings of affordable,

Serena's Star 2017

Could you use an extra $500? Great! Now that I have your attention... Do you know an amazing pet? I have three. They're just regular house cats, but each is one-of-a-kind and in my eyes at least, absolutely, pawsitively perfect . Most of us feel that way about our pets, but if you have or know a pet that is truly remarkable in their ability to provide compassion or service to people in need, here's your chance to give them the recognition they deserve. But if you'd like to spread that love around, and show some love to pets still waiting to meet their Valentine, here are a few ideas: Celebrate Valentine's Day with some Fre

Have a Heart - Spay/Neuter Your Pets!

Love is in the air all month long, and with spring arriving soon (perhaps already here) far too many unaltered cats and dogs will be looking for love and producing far too many litters who will most likely end up on the street or in crowded animal shelters. To help bring awareness to this problem, February has been designated "Spay/Neuter Awareness Month" nationally and the last Tuesday of the month, February 28th this year, is known as "World Spay Day". The reason is clear: if left unaltered, a pair of dogs and their litters can produce 67,000 dogs in just six years. And a pair of unaltered cats and their litters can produce over 420,000 cats in just seven years. Thousands of animals, all
