Giving Kudos to Canines

Serena's Documentary: 'Paw Prints' For the sixth year, the SPCA will partner with Serena's owner, Steve Briggs, to recognize other pets that are making amazing contributions in our community, and will name one incredible pet "Serena's Star 2019.” Serena was rescued from a shelter, days before facing euthanasia due to space limitations, to lead a life delivering comfort to challenged children, wounded veterans, and shattered souls with intuitive compassion. This year, we have decided to choose a winner in two categories: Personal Pet and Certified Pet. Nominees should apply as a personal

TNR: Better for Community Cats, Better for Communities

It’s estimated there are tens of millions of community cats living in the United States, and each year they give birth to millions of kittens. This causes problems including disruption of local ecosystems, endangerment of native wildlife, spread of disease, and litter after litter of kittens entering overburdened animal shelters each year. The good news is that the awareness campaign is working. According to the ASPCA’s estimation, the number of dogs and cats entering U.S. animal shelters every year has decreased from 7.2 million in 20
