The SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare is kicking off a Summer of Love with the “Twisted Whiskers” Thrift Store Party!  Join us for munchies, groovy deals, raffles, a far-out bar, and new store merchandise on Monday, April 25th from 6-8 p.m. Our staff and volunteers have been saving the best spring merchandise for this event, so you won’t want to miss out on this exclusive first look. Tickets can be purchased at our store in the Mitchell Plaza, at our shelter, or on our website www.letlovelive.org. You’ll want to secure your spot soon – pre-sale tickets are $10 until April 24th then $20 each at the door.

In the meantime, follow our Facebook page, SPCA Thrift Store, for pictures of our merchandise and information about the latest deals and steals. If you’re ready to start working on your spring wardrobe, consider picking up one of our “Twisted Whiskers: Summer of Love” inspired tie-dye t-shirts for just $25 each at the SPCA Thrift Store or Shelter.

Starting in May, warm up your singing voices, pull out the poetry books, and dust off your instrument cases – Our first Yappy Hour on May 11 will be an open mic night! Anyone 21 and older willing to take to the stage will receive a free Tito’s cocktail of their choice to get the creative juices flowing. Of course, we will be offering our usual cash bar, mouth-watering burgers and hot dogs, and free dog park access to those who prefer to sit and stay instead.

We are so grateful to be supported again this year by another generous sponsorship from Tito’s Vodka. Tito’s takes ‘vodka for dog people’ to a new level with their support of animal rescues throughout the country. Be sure to order our signature drink, the ‘American Bulldog,’ which features Tito’s, ginger beer, and lime for a refreshing way to beat the summer heat. Don’t leave without a Tito’s bandana for your pup!

McDonald’s is once again showing their support of all things Yappy by returning as a sponsor in 2022. McDonald’s has partnered with us in the past and is a fan favorite because of their free small fry coupons and Milkbone donations for shelter pups. We hope you’ll come and have a howl-ing good time with representative Angela Harrelson and her pack!

We are excited to be joined for the first time this year by Concierge Real Estate. We’re looking forward to this new partnership and hearing representative John Lamprecht and his crew take to the stage! Be sure to grab your friends and family and come out to our first Yappy Hour of the season to show the Concierge Real Estate team a round of ap-paws!

Our 2022 Yappy Hours will take place on May 11, June 15, July 13, August 10, and September 14 all from 6-8 p.m. at our shelter at 199 Willow Run Rd. Friendly, four-legged, friends are encouraged to attend or take a look at our available shelter cats and pups and consider bringing one home. Information about adoption hours and rates at the events to come. The SPCA Albrecht Center is still accepting 2022 sponsorship partners. If your business or group would like to sponsor an event, please contact us at [email protected].

Emilee joined the SPCA team after making the move from Grand Rapids, MI to Aiken in 2019. When she is not serving as the Director of Special Events, she can be found riding at the barn or at home with her adopted cat, Waldo Emerson, and former SPCA shelter pup, Oscar Wilde. She hopes to meet more of the Aiken community at the exciting shelter events she has planned for 2022.
