With over 150 cats and kittens in our care, there are a lot of cat lovers at the SPCA Albrecht Center, myself included. And that is why, for several years now, we have been thrilled to partner with the Cattyshack Cat Club at their annual TICA-sanctioned Cat Show in North Augusta.
This event, on September 6th and 7th, at the Riverview Park Activities Center in North Augusta, is a true celebration of cats, from pedigreed beauties competing for titles to beloved household pets posing for pets. Visitors can expect to see over 200 cats and kittens, representing more than 70 breeds from all over the world. But it’s not just about ribbons and trophies: the Cattyshack Cat Show is also about supporting the health and welfare of all cats, including the homeless pets in our community.
Cattyshack Cats has been hosting this championship and household pet show in North Augusta for more than 30 years. The Cattyshack Cat Club operates under the guidance of The International Cat Association (TICA), which is dedicated not only to preserving pedigreed cats, but also to promoting responsible pet ownership, spay/neuter, and the wellbeing of every domestic cat.
Club Secretary Sallie Dubay explains, “The purpose of this, it’s not just to title cats, although that’s important to breeders when they sell their kittens. It’s to better the welfare of cats everywhere – not just purebreds, but household pets as well.”
That mission is why Cattyshack Cats partners with local animal welfare groups every year, providing space and visibility for adoptable cats and kittens.
The SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare is proud to be part of this year’s event alongside our friends at Kitty Konnection, That’s What Friends Are For / Friends of Felines, and, new this year, Friends of North Augusta Animals (FONAA). We’ll have a table full of information, friendly faces, and of course – adorable, adoptable kittens. You may even spot one of our adoptable cats competing in the Household Pet category!
We’re grateful to Cattyshack Cats for their generosity in including us and other rescues year after year. Their support helps shine a spotlight on homeless cats who deserve loving homes, while giving visitors a chance to meet them in person.
For families, cat lovers, and the simply curious, the Cattyshack Cat Show offers a day full of furry fun where you can meet over 200 cats and kittens of all sorts of amazing breeds, shop fun cat toys, supplies and furniture, learn more about rescue organizations working in our community, and adopt your new best friend right at the show.
Admission is family-friendly and affordable: $25 for a family of four, $10 for ages 12 and over, with discounts for seniors and military ($8).
We invite you to come celebrate cats in all their glory at the Cattyshack Cat Show. Whether you’re there to admire the pedigreed competitors, cheer on the household pets, shop for cat supplies or find your new feline family member, it’s guaranteed to be a weekend full of whiskers, purrs, and community spirit.
