The SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare is excited to announce its participation in the nationwide “Empty the Shelters” event, sponsored by the Bissell Pet Foundation, from July 8th through July 19th. This event offers a great opportunity to bring a new furry family member home this summer with waived adoption fees! That means $0 adoption fees to add joy and love to your life! All pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Since its inception in 2016, this initiative has been instrumental in finding loving homes for thousands of pets across the nation. By waiving adoption fees, we remove barriers and encourage more adoptions, giving every animal a second chance at a loving home.
In what seems to be the new normal, the SPCA Albrecht Center continues facing the familiar challenge of overcrowding. This issue affects shelters nationwide, with economic hardships, housing instability, and other factors contributing to the rising number of pets in need of homes. As of July 7th, our shelter cares for 240 animals. While every adoption is celebrated, it often feels like for every animal that leaves, two more take its place.
Empty the Shelters is about more than just adoptions; it’s about saving lives. Adopting a pet not only gives that animal a home but also makes space for another pet to be rescued and rehomed. While the SPCA is a No-Kill shelter, our operations demand significant resources – including medical care, behavioral training, and adequate space and staff to care for the animals that come through our doors.
This is why we rely on the support of our community to continue to reach our mission. If you’re not ready to adopt, consider fostering. Open your home to a homeless dog or cat, providing them a break from shelter life. The SPCA provides all necessary supplies, including food, while you provide love and a temporary home. Imagine a shelter animal experiencing the joy of summer in a loving home, surrounded by warmth and affection. This is the gift you give when you adopt or foster this season.
The SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare is located at 199 Willow Run Rd in Aiken, SC, and is open Monday-Friday, 11am-4:30pm and Wednesdays and Saturdays, 11am to 6pm. For more information about available pets, visit LetLoveLive.org/adopt.
Whether you’re looking to add a furry friend to your family or simply want to lend a helping hand, we invite you to join the SPCA Albrecht Center and the Bissell Pet Foundation in making a difference in the lives of these wonderful animals. You can support by spreading the word about the adoption event, foster program, and donation needs. Every effort counts, and your support is greatly appreciated.
