As the days grow longer and the temperatures creep into the 80’s, the SPCA crew is hard at work preparing for one of our favorite new spring events, Top Dog at TopGolf. Last year we were joined by 70 members of the community for an evening of food, drinks, and interactive golf and we’re hoping even more people will join in on the fun this year.

TopGolf Augusta opened just two years ago and provides a family-friendly and all-weather golfing venue. Players can opt to play games like virtual courses, closest to the hole, and even Angry Birds, or hit balls just for fun. You do not need golf knowledge to play and appreciate the fun atmosphere. TopGolf provides all the equipment needed to play but more serious golfers are welcome to bring their own irons.

This event would not be possible without the generous support of our community sponsors. Security Federal Bank is our presenting sponsor for the second year in a row. When asked about why they were eager to return in 2022, Mallory Holley, VP Director of Marketing and Community Relations, says “Security Federal is a proud supporter of the SPCA Albrecht Center. The bank values the services the SPCA provides to the animals in our community.” Security Federal’s ongoing partnership with the SPCA Albrecht Center has allowed us to raise vital funds used to provide food, shelter, and medical attention to the hundreds of animals that we serve each year.

We are also proud to be partnering with Family Pharmacy for this event. Family Pharmacy has been serving the Aiken community with their outstanding customer service, keeping us protected with vaccines, and fulfilling our prescriptions with a friendly smile. When hand sanitizer was in short supply, they even donated hand sanitizer that they had compounded in-house to the SPCA Albrecht Center and SPCA Thrift Store. Family Pharmacy sponsored our Holiday Thrift Store party back in November, but after experiencing the fun of Top Dog at TopGolf last year, wanted to step up their game and sponsor this year. They hope you’ll come out to tee-off with the Family Pharmacy crew.

Tickets to the 2022 TopDog at TopGolf event can be purchased through our website at www.letlovelive.org/event/topgolf. Tickets are $75 per person though we recommend getting a bay for six people for just $400 for extra savings and maximum fun – both options include two hours of game play for participants. All tickets include a meal with your choice of burger sliders or chicken tenders, a side of chips or pasta salad, and bottomless soda, iced tea, or water. Alcoholic drinks can be purchased at the cash bar onsite and vegetarian food options are available by request. Be sure to get your tickets by March 23rd!

Emilee joined the SPCA team after making the move from Grand Rapids, MI to Aiken in 2019. When she is not serving as the Director of Special Events, she can be found riding at the barn or at home with her adopted cat, Waldo Emerson, and former SPCA shelter pup, Oscar Wilde. She hopes to meet more of the Aiken community at the exciting shelter events she has planned for 2022.
