More Things Spring Brings

April 22, 2016

A few weeks ago, we talked about the things spring brings, like spring cleaning, yard sales and pollen. Lots of pollen. Now that the pollen seems to have been finally washed away thanks to April's showers, let's talk about the other things spring brings: outdoor events and fun!

Just a couple of weeks ago, we held our first outdoor event of the year, the Walk for Animals, and it was a tail-wagging success! If you were there, I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did and will return for an even bigger and better walk next year.

Tomorrow night, we'll be back outside on the patio for our first Yappy Hour of the season. These after-hour mixers have become quite popular with SPCA supporters and locals, and we love seeing all the familiar faces and meeting new people each time.

Yappy Hours will be held on the first Wednesday of each month this year, May - September at 6pm. Admission is free and we have plenty of parking. The dog park will be open for everyone to use, so bring your pup with you and enjoy live music, a bite and a drink. We'll have a cash bar set up and food for purchase. Who's on stage? Here's the music lineup for the season:

This Saturday, we'll host our second annual Kitten Shower and Supply Drive. We'll have traditional baby shower type snacks and lots of kittens for cuddling. Bring donations to the shower or drop them off in advance at our shelter. We have a pack 'n play in the lobby ready to be filled to the brim with kitten donations! Visit LetLoveLive.org/KittenShower for more information and a wish list.

Our dog washes also start back up this month and will be held on the second Saturday of each month, May - September from 10am until 2pm on the patio. Wash prices start at $20. Ear cleanings and nail trims are also available. Proceeds from our dog washes help us care for the hundreds of homeless animals relying on us for shelter, food and medical care this year. Cash or check only please.

Check our calendar at LetLoveLive.org/Calendar or our Facebook page at Facebook.com/SPCAAlbrechtCenter for event dates, times and updates. While you're adding those dates to your calendar, go ahead and add Barkaritaville on October 22nd. More info. coming soon!

Aiken is beautiful in this time of year and we know you have lots of options for where to enjoy your down time. We hope you'll consider spending some of that time with us and learning that we're not just here for needy animals, we're here for the people who love those animals, and we enjoy being a big part of this amazing community that supports our organization and our mission.
