Walking the Walk
On Saturday, April 14th, we came together and walked in support of the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare and the homeless and neglected animals in our community. I wish there were bigger, more meaningful words than “Thank You” to express our true appreciation for those of you that choose to support our organization and events like the Walk for Animals. With your help and activeness in spreading our mission, we will be able to help many of our animals with veterinary care and with purchasing supplies to keep them happy and healthy until they find new and loving homes.
Supporters, volunteers and their pets came to the Albrecht Center and walked the 1.25-mile route to show their support. The weather was beautiful and it turned out to be the perfect day for a good cause. Afterwards, we enjoyed a delicious brunch of breakfast casserole, muffins, fruit and bagels, courtesy of board members Russ and Jennifer Richardson. Accompanying the brunch were a cash bar, free dog park admission and music DJ’d by David Spikes.
Through online fundraising, registration, donations and food and drink sales, we successfully raised over $8,800 for the animals in our care. With over 140 online supporters and walkers and 20 volunteers for this event, we could not feel more grateful. $8,800 means we can administer 730 rabies shots or perform 125 spay/neuter surgeries or treat 15 heartworm positive dogs. The veterinary care is extremely vital to ensuring a good life for our animals and we are incredibly happy with what we will be able to accomplish all thanks to you!
If you were unable to attend the event, but would like to contribute, you can donate to our Tails of Hope Fund at www.letlovelive.org/tailsofhope. Donations made to this fund go directly to giving second chances to homeless pets in need of more extensive medical treatment, including those from abusive or neglectful situations. Or, you can continue to donate to a Walk for Animals’ fundraising team at http://walk-for-animals-2018.everydayhero.do/ until May 7th.
