Sooner than you think, the leaves will be changing, the kids will be getting ready to go trick-or-treating and the SPCA Albrecht Center will be holding it’s largest fundraiser of the year – Barktober Fest. On October 13 from 5pm – 8pm at the SPCA Albrecht Center (199 Willow Run Road), the SPCA invites you to celebrate Halloween with your family and friends – furry or not. 100% of the profits from this fundraiser go directly to helping our community’s homeless and mistreated animals. Fun and an amazing cause - nothing can beat that!
Enjoy food trucks, vendors, a cash bar, FREE dog park admission and costume contests (for humans and pets). Music will be performed by our very special guest, Beth Spangler. Visit our themed booths, which are operated by SPCA supporters, try a sample of their best recipes and vote for your favorite. The winner will receive a mountain vacation to Lorelai’s Lair and a $200 Visa gift card – whoa!
Be sure to come to the event in your best costume or dress up your pup for a chance to win in one of our four categories – Best Pet Costume, Best Adult Costume, Best Child Costume and Best Group Costume.
Tickets to this event are available online NOW at www.LetLoveLive.org/BarktoberFest. Tickets will be available at the SPCA Albrecht Center, SPCA Thrift Stores and Aiken Saddlery in the coming days and will be announced on Facebook shortly. Ticket prices are just $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Children 12 and under are $15 and pets are FREE.
Would you like a chance to compete for the “Best Booth” grand prize? Sign up to host your own themed booth at www.LetLoveLive.org/BarktoberBooths. Contestants are asked to provide sample-sized versions of their best recipes to accommodate approximately 250-300 guests. It is not required to serve drinks with the food samples, but if you would like to earn some bonus points (and possibly votes) from event guests, nonalcoholic beverages may be handed out. Alcoholic beverages from booth operators are not permitted.
Prizes will be given for “Best Food,” “Best Theme,” and “Best Booth” – the grand prize going to Best Booth (overall). Booth Operators are asked to pay a small $30 Booth Fee. 100% of the Booth Fee goes to the animals in our care, covers the cost of admission for up to (4) booth operators as well as certain booth supplies that will be provided by the SPCA Albrecht Center.
The SPCA Albrecht Center is also looking for vendors to set up and share their businesses with our supporters. Vendors will not be entered into the booth competition, but they are permitted to sell their products with just a $50 Vendor Fee. 100% of the Vendor Fee goes to the animals in our care and covers the cost of admission for the vendor. Interested businesses and merchants can find vendor information at www.LetLoveLive.org/BarktoberVendor.
