The countdown continues - we are now just 25 days away from Barkaritaville and the Twilight Walk for Animals!
This week, let's talk about food.
What's a party without good food? One of the highlights of Barkaritaville is the many themed booths offering a variety of culinary concoctions and delightful drinks.
This is our third year opening up the parking lot to 20-30 booths showcasing their cooking and drink mixing skills and we can't wait to see what's in store this year.
Each booth will feature a fun theme and their food and drink offerings will match that theme.
So far, we have "Bloody Marys and Brownies", "Pup Treats and Human Drinks", "Cupcakes and Punch", "Wizard of Oz", "The Nightmare Before Christmas", and a 50s themed booth just to name a few. Go ahead and let your imagination run wild with what these booths will be offering.
Last year, booths like "Kielbasas for Kittles", "Little Puerto Rico", "Starbarks" and Phideaux's Phiesta" were a huge hit with the crowd and each won some great prizes for their efforts.
Prizes? Yes, prizes. Remember? I mentioned those last time. In case you missed it though, here's how it works:
Anyone can sign up to host a booth and it's FREE! Host a booth with your BFF, with your spouse, with your coworker, or with your business partner. It's a fantastic, fun, easy way to show off your skills or promote your business, whether your business is food oriented or not.
We'll provide a 20 x 20 ft space in our parking lot, paper trays to serve your food, small, plastic cups for your drink samples, napkins, sporks, hand sanitizer and a voting bank. You provide your tent, a table or two, a couple of chairs if you need them, your chosen theme decor, bite-sized food & drink samples.
Hosting a booth grants you admission for two to the event (anyone else participating in your booth will need to purchase a ticket), two stylish, silicone cause bracelets, two long-sleeved Barkaritaville t-shirts to prove you were there, and two very cool, color-changing, commemorative cups.
You'll have from 10am until 5pm on event day to set everything up and get ready for the party.
Starting at 6pm, Barkaritaville party-goers will sample your offerings and vote on their favorite food, favorite drink, favorite theme and their overall favorite booth.
Voting booths will be collected after all attendees have had a chance to sample and vote, and the winners will be announced and prizes awarded.
Winning booths for best food, best drink and best theme receive a shiny, brag-worthy trophy and a bottle of wine from Harvard Wine & Beverage.
The winner for best overall booth (and the prize to shoot for) is awarded a vacation for two at the Francis Ford Coppola Turtle Inn, a five star luxury resort in Placencia, Belize! Can't you just feel the tropical, ocean breezes and taste the fruity, umbrella drinks?
All booth participants win the warm, fuzzy feeling of knowing their efforts have helped promote a great cause and introduced more people to the SPCA Albrecht Center.
