In the bustling corridors of the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, amidst the cheerful barks and soft purrs of furry friends, there’s a silent army at work – its volunteers. These cape-less heroes form the backbone of the center’s operations, tirelessly dedicating their time and efforts to the mission or our organization: to improve the lives of homeless companion animals in our community.

As a private non-profit, the organization relies heavily on the support of our volunteers to continue operating everyday. While hard working staff members tend to animals in need of extra care behind the scenes, the dedicated volunteers assist with key pieces of our operations that help shelter pets find loving families.

Our team of volunteers come from all walks of life, each bringing their own unique skills and passions to the table. Whether it’s pitching in at fundraising events, assisting staff with tasks, or providing enrichment and socialization to our shelter animals, every contribution matters.

“Without our volunteers, our mission would be nearly impossible to achieve. Their commitment and compassion are the driving force behind almost every successful adoption story.” stated the Events & Fundraising Manager, Jade Garrett.

And with the recent influx of homeless animals coming through the doors of the shelter, there’s a strain on the center’s already cramped resources. As of 5pm on last Saturday evening the shelter, 70 animals were taken in during the week. Of those intakes, 7 being dogs and 63 being cats, bringing the total number of animals in their care to nearly double the center’s intended capacity. In response to this, the center is issuing a call to action to individuals seeking volunteer opportunities.

Recognizing that not everyone may be comfortable with direct animal interaction, the center offers a range of volunteer opportunities. From hands-on assistance with shelter animals, to supporting the SPCA

Vet Care Center team, and lending a helping hand at the SPCA Thrift Store, there’s a place for anyone interested in making a significant impact in their community.

If you’re looking to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals, earn volunteer hours for school or work, or you’re looking for ways to connect with the community, we invite you to join our program. Your kindness and support can help us continue to save lives and create more success stories.

To get involved, prospective volunteers can submit a volunteer application on the organization’s website at LetLoveLive.org or send an email to [email protected]. As the SPCA Albrecht Center strives to uphold its commitment to animal welfare, one thing remains abundantly clear – it’s the unwavering dedication of the selfless volunteers that keep the heart of the organization beating strong.
