Last Friday, SPCA Albrecht Center hosted its first-ever Furry Film Night, featuring the new movie Barbie. The event was a tremendous success, drawing support from our wonderful community members. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our friends at Aiken’s Houses for Horses & Sharer Dale Team for sponsoring this memorable evening.
Looking ahead, we’re gearing up for our inaugural Shelter Slumber Pawty on April 6th. This unique sleepover fundraiser invites participants to spend 24 hours living with a shelter pet to raise funds and awareness for overcrowding in our facility. We encourage everyone to visit the shelter on Saturday to witness the participants in action alongside our adorable shelter pets.
Take the chance to meet Golem, one of the friendliest cats you’ll meet! He’s a domestic shorthair cat waiting for his forever home. He loves to chat and tell you about his day so come and tell him all about yours!
Following shortly after is our eagerly anticipated Kitten Shower on April 17th. This drop-in event puts a delightful twist on the traditional baby shower and is essential for preparing for the upcoming Kitten Season. Community members are invited to bring donations and spend time with our adorable, adoptable kittens.
On the same day, April 17th, we’re kicking off one of our favorite events, Yappy Hour, a community cookout event featuring grilled food, a cash bar, live music, raffle prizes, and free adoptions throughout the event. A huge thank you to our sponsors at Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Lulu’s Car Wash, the Sullivan – Turner Team at Meybohm Real Estate, and Scenthound for their generous support of this event. Save the dates for our Yappy Hour season on May 15th, June 14th, September 18th, and October 25th.

Continuing the festivities, we invite you to our SPCA Thrift Store Party: A Canine Corral on April 22nd. Get your cowboy hats and join us for complimentary appetizers and cocktails as we unveil our new seasonal merchandise. Advance tickets are available for just $10 at the SPCA Thrift Store or the SPCA Albrecht Center, and they also serve as a 10% off coupon. Special thanks to our friends at Security Federal Bank for sponsoring this exciting event.
Wrapping up our list of upcoming events is this season’s kickoff of our Pups ‘n Suds Dog Wash on April 27th. This is the perfect opportunity for the community to treat their furry friends to a well-deserved bath while supporting our cause to help homeless pets. We’ll be offering dog baths, nail trims, ear cleaning, and plenty of love! Other Dog Wash Dates this season are May 25th, June 29th, July 27th, and Aug 31st.
